Quill & Andes

Our story

A neighbourhood shop with a wide reading life.

Quill & Andes began with an uncomplicated idea: Santiago deserves more places where readers can linger, trade notes and leave with a book they did not know they needed.

We opened on Avenida Providencia to make a small, human-scale home for English-language books and the conversations that gather around them. The name is a nod to both the physical tools of writing and the landscape that defines our horizon. Our shelves are not arranged to perform certainty; they are invitations to browse across genres, countries and viewpoints.

The shop is independent, local and intentionally porous. On any given day, someone may be looking for a fantasy novel, a gentle first book in English, a sharply argued essay or a birthday gift for a reader whose taste is difficult to pin down. We enjoy that variety. It keeps the work close to what books do best: make a room larger than it looked before.

We also believe a bookshop can be useful beyond the sale. That is why we host open book clubs, tabletop evenings, low-pressure craft tables and reading visits for schools. We work with nearby readers and makers whenever possible, and we are always interested in a thoughtful collaboration.

Our team will never pretend there is one correct way to read. Come in with a list, a vague mood, a question, or no plan at all. The shelves will meet you where you are.
